Did Jesus Die on a Torture Stake or Cross?

QUESTION:
1. Was Jesus crucified on a stake, as the Watchtower Society of Jehovah's Witnesses contend? (Both hands pinned by ONE nail directly over his head.)
2. The issue here is not that we (believers) want to worship the cross (as the Watchtower falsely suggests) but it is that we accept the authority of God's Word exactly as it is written. And every time the Watchtower adds to God's Word, or deletes something in it, or changes the words in it, then that authority - the authority of God's Word - is undermined in the hearts of people, just like it was when Satan caused Eve to doubt God's Word in the garden of Eden (Gen 3:1-5).
ANSWER:
3. Jesus was not crucified on a stake. Two nails were used to secure Jesus' hands to the cross; one nail securing each hand, just as the bible says. ("Print" is singular – one print in each hand; "nails" is plural – one nail for each of two hands.) Here's the proof:
"The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe." (John 20:25)
4. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (I Cor 1:18)
5. God's word can be trusted to the letter. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. (I Thess 5:21)
