Terry,
1. I appreciate the fact that you are approaching our exchange with a great deal of time, effort, study and prayer – particularly when you have family matters to address. I pray that God will reward you bountifully.
2. Nevertheless, overall, I have reviewed our (extensive) correspondence and see that our conversation (although interesting enough) continues to meander into new topics without having answered the questions that were asked or having settled the specific issues pertaining to those questions. Consequently, very little has been resolved between us.
3. The one exception to this occurred in response to my email of 29 Dec in which I refused to continue to follow the meandering discussion until you admitted that your beliefs were wrong regarding Jesus never being called God. (I gave Heb 1:8 and John 1:1 as specific verses in which he was called "God" – and there are certainly many other proofs). So, we should probably do the same and settle some of these issues and answer some of these questions – point by point – before going on to the next one.
4. We have to be consistent in the way we interpret scripture. For example, we can't say that the LORD shall reign "for ever and ever" (Ex 15:18) and that we shall reign "for ever and ever" (Rev 22:5) and that forty-four other things will be "for ever and ever", and then claim that Satan will NOT be tormented "for ever and ever" (Rev 20:10), even though the bible uses the exact same words, "for ever and ever" to describe his torment in the same Lake of Fire into which everyone else will be cast whose names are not written in the book of life. (Rev 20:15)
5. The way we interpret words is extremely important. Our salvation depends on how we interpret the words that pertain to salvation. We can both use the name "Jesus", but if your Jesus is not "God" then he is "another Jesus" than mine is (II Cor 11:4), and that fact definitely affects salvation. So we have to agree on what words mean and we have to be consistent with our interpretation of them. On two occasions now, at least, I have asked you a question and have not yet received an answer from you at all (and when you do answer this question, please make sure that it directly answers the question).
Here is the question that I would appreciate you answering: If God had actually meant to say that the devil would be "tormented day and night for ever and ever" in the lake of fire and brimstone, then what words WOULD God have used in Rev 20:10 to let us know that, or what words SHOULD he have used to make that clear to us?
Thanks,
Mike.
